Regulator for alternator including a breakdown detector device able to trigger an alarm, which comprises, on the one hand, means 23, 24 sensitive to the peak phase voltage and able to command, when there is a tendency for this peak voltage to vanish, a retention of this peak voltage at a value greater than the lower threshold for triggering the alarm, insofar as this tendency is not due to a stoppage of the rotation of the alternator or to non-supplying of the inductor, and, on the other hand, first comparator means 29 of the DC voltage and second comparator means 30 of the peak voltage respectively with threshold values, and means 32, 35, 36 for controlling the alarm, which are sensitive to the result of the comparisons carried out by these comparator means and are able to trigger the said alarm, according as the DC voltage and the peak phase voltage are simultaneously greater than predetermined threshold values. <IMAGE>
