<p>A dual cavity injection moulding device comprises a pair of fixed mould plates located back-to-back and a pair of movable mould plates each brought to the closure position by a hydraulic ram. The movable mould plate of one mould is connected by rods to an auxiliary movable plate spaced from the movable mould plate of the other mould. Located between these latter two plates is a wedge device operative to lock both moulds closed during injection. Injection is effected by a pair of cylinders located between the fixed mould plates, the cylinders being fed from a common barrel. In use, whilst injection is effected in one mould and for a period thereafter both moulds are kept closed, thus allowing a long solidification time for the article previously injected in the other mould.</p> |
