The turbine is fitted with a control diaphragm and a stop diaphragm; and the turbine is connected in parallel with a set of valves controlling the flow of the throat gas. The turbine drives an electric generator fitted with an electrically controlled air cooling fan. An oil pump is used to start the turbine and generator. A store contg. standard ref. values feeds signals (S ref) into a controller adjusting the speed(Sa) of the turbine via diaphrgms. A gauge measures the pressure of the throat gas and is connected to valves and controller and a switch can stop the generator. sensors are fitted at numerous points in the plant and are connected to computer for the fully automatic operation of the turbine in synchronisation with the blast furnace. Provide max. prodn. of electrical energy without imparting optimum operation of the furnace.
