PURPOSE:To provide a remedy for gray hair, containing at least one compound selected from oxidizing agents and female hormones in an amount to enable the promotion of the activity of tyrosinase, and capable of suppressing the generation of gray hair and promoting the growth of pigment-containing hair. CONSTITUTION:The objective remedy contains at least one compound selected from oxidizing agents (e.g. potassium bromate, sodium bromate, stabilized chlorine dioxide, etc.) and female hormones, as an active component. The amount of the active component is selected to be sufficient to promote the activity of tyrosinase or oxidase which accelerates the formation of melanine in the melanophore of the folliculus pili. The color of the hair is originated from melanine produced by melanocyte, and gray hair occurs when there is no production of melanine. The remedy is effectless when the function of melanocyte is lost, however, the generation of gray hair can be suppressed by using the above oxidizing agent, etc. to promote the activity of the tyrosinase actively to melanocyte in the course of the regeneration of the folliculus pili after the artificial or spontaneous falling of the hair.
