A buffer memory arrangement for use in diagnostic image acquisition is described, in which the buffer memory is filled with the acquired image at a rate R1 and unloaded into a permanent store at a rate of R2, whereas the filling proceeds at a rate R1, which corresponds to at least 12.5 images per second.
