PURPOSE:To improve luminous efficiency by combining an ignitor and discharge lamp under a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:The luminous efficiency of fluorescent lamp can be improved by constituting it with a low pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp where the phosphor 5 is applied to the internal surface of discharge bulb 1 having internal diameter of 22mm. or longer and under 35mm. and electrode-to-electrode distance of 400mm. or longer and under 1,200mm., and the rare gas and mercury vapor generator body are sealed within the total pressure range of 1 Torr to 5 Torr and an ignitor which ignits at a high frequency as high as 10kHz or more and applies a high frequency voltage which is controlled so that a discharge current becomes 100mA to 1,000mA. |
