PURPOSE:To recognize graphic information including the symbol information and the inter-symbol connection information with small capacity of a main storage, by reading data for each proper number of lines from the 2-dimensional picture data scanned by a scanner through the raster scan of one time. CONSTITUTION:A drum scanner 2 is controlled by an information processor 1 through a signal line 100 and scans a read subject drawing stuck on the drum surface to obtain the concentration value, i.e., the multi-value data. This data is sent to a binary coding circuit 3 through a signal line 200. The circuit 3 is controlled by the processor through a signal line 300. The multi-value data given through the line 200 is binary coded by the processor 1 with the prescribed threshold value through the line 300 and then sent to a pattern recognizer 4 through a signal line 400. |
