A seat made of tubular frame rectangles is known, in which the backrest is divided in an articulated manner. As a result, difficulties arise in the handling of the seat and in respect of its stability in the position of use. In contrast, the invention provides two single-part support bars 15 between the main stand 2 and the subsidiary stand 4, which bars are connected permanently to the subsidiary stand 4 via a connecting joint 18. The free ends 19 of the support bars 15 can be connected to the main stand 2 in such a way that an easy coupling and uncoupling possibility is guaranteed and the main stand 2 and the subsidiary stand 4 are fixed to one another satisfactorily in the position of use. <IMAGE>
