In order to monitor the yarn package on a polygonal or cylindrical drum in warping machines exactly, reliably, economically and in a manner easy to attend to, there are coupled to the yarn-monitoring system at any two points within the creel movable rotational-speed measuring devices which centrally compare positive and negative deviations in rotational speed with one another and which indicate them according to a predetermined cycle time. <IMAGE>
