The circuit arrangement according to the invention is composed of a combined automatic overload protection for an electric motor with control of the speed of revolution of the shaft driven by the elctric motor. If the electric motor is overloaded below a desired speed of revolution, a V-belt control gear provided between drive motor and shaft is adjusted to the effect of reducing the speed of revolution of the motor shaft. When the overload state is eliminated, the speed of revolution of the motor shaft is increased to the effect of achieving the set nominal speed of revolution. In the case of rated loading of the motor, the rated speed can also be controlled.
