The present invention relates to a fan-assisted burner with a flame pipe mounted in a housing and with a supply device for a fuel-air mixture arranged at one end, an exhaust gas exit opening being provided at its other end and having a fan, the pressure connection of which is connected to the annular space between the flame pipe and the housing. In order to solve the problem of achieving even better combustion values in respect of a reduction of the CO and NOX content, without allowing the efficiency of the combustion to fall, the invention consists in that the housing at the end of the flame pipe having the opening projects beyond the flame pipe and is provided with an acute-angled taper which, overlapping the annular space in the radial direction, engages into the free opening of the flame pipe.
