PURPOSE:Two polyesters different in intrinsic viscosity are melt spun into side- by-side conjugated fibers, drawn at a specific draw ratio, heat-treated under relax to give the titled fibers for clothe wadding in quiltings, because of their high crimpability and good touch. CONSTITUTION:On the side-by-side conjugate spinning of two polyesters different in intrinsic viscosity, undrawn fibers are made so that the difference in intrinsic vicosity between two polyesters DELTAeta, nozzle diameter of the spinnineret d in mm.and filament fineness of the product D in denier satisfy equations I , II and III. The resultant fibers are drawn at 85-93% of the maximum draw ratio and heat treated under relax to give the objective fibers of less than 3 denier filament fineness, more than 85% crimp elasticity, less than 70% unload length and more than 90% percent crimp ratio of that after heat treatment at 130 deg.C for 15min to that before heat treatment. |
