<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently dephosphorize molten iron contg. Cr independently of the concn. of carbon at a low cost without causing the oxidation loss of Cr by adding a CaO-NaF-SiO2 flux having a specified composition to the molten iron. CONSTITUTION:A CaO-NaF-SiO2 flux consisting of 30-70wt% NaF. 5-15wt% SiO2 and the balance CaO is added to molten iron contg. Cr such as a molten stainless steel. Thus, the generation of white smoke by NaF is inhibited and the molten iron is efficiently dephosphorized independently of the concn. of carbon without causing the oxidation loss of Cr. Since the flux is inexpensive, the treatment cost can be reduced.</p> |
