PURPOSE:To shorten an aging period and simplify a measurement of characteristic value after aging by conducting an aging in a high density oxygen environment. CONSTITUTION:Air inside an aging system is firstly circulated thaough an aqueous solution contoining potassium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide which generates carbonate by an instanteneous reaction with carbon dioxide so as to prevent a pollution of a battery electrolyte from carbon dioxide in the air, since an aging is conducted in a stored state with the air supply aperture 2 of a battery opened. Then, a pure oxygen gas is fed into the aging system to make an oxygen density inside higher than the one of the normal atmosphcre, and an environment is set where an equilibirum humidity against potassium hydroxide density in the battery electrolyte is obtained to prevent evaporation or absorption of electrolytic moisture inside the battery. Further, an oxygen gas passed through the same solution as the battery electrolyte used for a battery under a normal temperature is circulated thaough the aging system and the solution. |
