PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for communication speed setting operation that an operator performs by detecting the proper communication speed of the opposite side automatically and then setting this detected data in the communication controller on this side automatically. CONSTITUTION:In a data processor, a storage part 3 incorporating a communication speed setting program is provided. On the basis of this program, a central arithmetic device 2 sets the communication speed of the communication controller 9. When a request to start communication speed setting operation is generated, a 1200BPS speed is assigned to the communication controller 9. At this speed, test transmission is carried out. If this communication is adequate for the opposite station, it is decided by acknowledge that the adequate speed is 1200BPS. When there is no answer, it means that an inadequate communication speed is set for the opposite station, so the same step as above is repeated at another predetermined speed of 2400BPS is repeated. Thus, communication speeds are changed successively to decide on an adequate communication speed automatically. |
