<p>PURPOSE:To enable the reading of a tilted character line, by shifting the next imcomplete line by a line within a buffer memory and prior to the scan of the next line and then performing the next scan after feeding a slip in response to the extent of the above-mentioned shifted extent of the line. CONSTITUTION:When a complete character line A1 is first detected, the centers Y12 and Y22 of the Y coordinates are obtained at two black picture element line regions M12 and M22 of the line A1. Then the difference Y2 is obtained between the centers Y12 and Y22, and the value and the polarity of the difference Y2 are decided the degree of inclination in the scanning direction X of the desired line A1 and as the direction of inclination respectively. Both the degree of inclination and the direction of inclination obtained with the line A1 are regarded equal for character lines A2 and A3 in terms of an ordinary slip. Thereafer, both the Y2 and the polarity are preserved for the separation between a desired line and the next line. Then the desired line A1 is read out of a 1-line buffer memrory 2 and fed to a character recognizing system via a procedure which standardizes the character pattern information parallel to the X axis after a compensation of the degree of inclination.</p> |
