The aim of the invention is to avoid, following chemical cockroach control in swimming pools, the hitherto necessary drainage of the swimming pool water and thus to shorten the closing time and to save considerable quantities of water and also thermal energy. The object of the invention is to eliminate the chemical substances, harmful to humans, introduced into the swimming pool water for cockroach control. Surprisingly, according to the invention, by use of the process outlined below - halogenation of the swimming pool water, - minimum time of action 15 hours, - water temperature above 15 DEG C, - establishing a minimum content of free active chlorine of 1 mg/l, it was found that the dichlorvos used is degraded within a short time into harmless substances.
