PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength by grading according to a suitable magnetic field a pancake-wound forced-air cooling conductor for high magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:Both an air space 8 for a high magnetic field conductor and an air space 9 for a low magnetic field conductor are made on an intermediate reinforcing plate 7. An air space hole 10 is provided for the outermost layer portion of a high magnetic field conductor winding on the plate, through which the conductor runs to the opposite side of the plate; a similar hole is also provided for the innermost layer portion of a low magnetic field conductor winding on the plate, with the conductor run through the hole to the opposite side. External reinforcing plates are then bolted or welded to the double pancake sides. This double pancake constitution improves mechanical strength, and hence a compact magnet with added strength can be obtained. |
