The drum can be used predominantly for building large-format pneumatic tyres. The drum contains segments (1, 3) with shoulders (2, 4) which are provided with a drive for the radial displacement thereof. The drive includes slide parts (12, 33) which are arranged so as to be axially displaceable concentrically to one another on a shaft (14). The slide parts (12, 33) are articulatedly connected to the segments (1, 3) by means of levers (5, 7, 26, 28). The centre of one of the levers (5, 26) of each slide part (12, 33) is hinged to the shaft (14) by means of a pull rod (6, 27) whose length is equal to half the length of the lever (5, 26). <IMAGE>
