The invention describes a shelf unit, in particular for libraries, which has support columns which are provided with suspension slots in which brackets for supporting shelves can be suspended. To improve the safety-related design of such a shelf unit, provision is made according to the invention for the support columns to be arranged at one end of the feet and to be provided in their upper region opposite the feet with transversely extending support arms of at least the length of the feet, and for the suspension slots to be arranged on the longitudinal side towards which the feet point. An essential advantage of this design lies in the fact that a shelf unit designed in this manner can be erected in such a way that, with an arrangement of the support columns facing the user and the thus ensuing arrangement of the shelves on the opposite side, a tilting moment occurs which is directed away from the user. Additionally, the risk of injury on sharp-edged parts of the shelves is avoided by the support columns being positioned towards the outside. |
