<p>In the case of a hollow stick of shirred tubular casing wrapped in an expandable tubular net, as envisaged in particular for subsequent processing on an automatic sausage-filling machine, the tubular net (10) is made up of interlinked mesh threads (14, 16), running in axial direction and in circumferential direction, of which the mesh threads (16) running in circumferential direction consist of elastically stretchable material, whereas the axially running mesh threads (14) are resistant to stretching. This design makes possible in addition to the simple packing effect of the tubular net a controlled drawing-off of the casing material from the tubular caterpillar fold by fold during processing on the automatic sausage-filling machine, and there is no need for the special tying-off of the ends of the tubular net when enclosing the shirred tubular casing in the tubular net. <IMAGE></p> |
