PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect of a superconductive field coil for a rotary electric machine without opening a hole at a retainer ring by forming a circumferential groove at the peripheral side of the ring as a passage for supplying helium. CONSTITUTION:A conducting hole 32 is opened at an insulating cover 22, a groove 33 is formed in a circumferential direction at the peripheral side of a retainer ring 16, and an axial groove 34 is formed at an insulating filler 35 disposed between poles. Liquid helium which absorbs generated heat is accumulated by natural convection in a liquid helium reservoir 30 through a conducting hole 35. In this manner, the helium can be supplied to the coil without machining such as vertical direction to the stress applying direction including drilling, axial groove forming at the ring, thereby improving the cooling effect. |
