<p>PURPOSE:To decompose garbage into a state useful as a fertilizer without generation of offensive odor and to utilize its reaction heat for heating water or the like, by throwing the garbage such as food leftovers into a tank, and kepping the garbage under the influence of microorganisms in soil. CONSTITUTION:Food leftovers 6 from a kitchen are thrown through a charge opening 5 into a tank 1, a proper amount of soil is thrown into the tank 1, and the tank 1 is covered with a cover 7. The charged substances are mixed with an agitator 8 by rotating a handle 11 along an arrow 13 to let the powdery soil adhere to the outside of the food leftovers. Each food waste 6a, 6b, 6c is circulated along lines 14, 15. Each food waste, after having reached the highest position, is crushed into pieces, dropped and piled up together. Cavities are formed between the food leftovers enclosed with the soil. The surface of the food leftovers is brought into contact with air by the action of projections 3 or the like. Consequently, aerobic bacteria in the soil, accepting oxygen from the air, ingest nutritive substance such as starch from the food leftovers and do aerobic fermentation at the same time. In this way, the aerobic bacteria proliferate on the surface of the food leftovers.</p> |
