The apparatus comprises a switch (4) which, in a first position (A), enables the apparatus to be programmed by the user telephone set to which it is coupled, and, in a second position (B), enables the apparatus to receive the incoming telephone signals and to be programmed remotely from another telephone set. Two decoders (8, 10), one for the pulses generated by a dial and the other for the pulses generated by a keyboard, are selectively connected to a command unit (12), an auxiliary memory (16) and a main memory (20). A comparator (28) compares the digits introduced, via the decoders, into the auxiliary memory (16) with those, which have been programmed, contained in the main memory (20), to deliver a signal which is acceptable to function generator means (30) when there is agreement. The apparatus, which serves to eliminate undesired telephone calls, may be utilised to command remotely, via the telephone line, the lighting of a heater or the feeding of fish. <IMAGE>
