The drive-coupling attaches a rotary machine tool (4) with a conical tang to a machine-tool spindle (S). It comprises an adaptor with a screw-on cylindrical case (3) and a tool-holder (2) in the form of a conical sleeve. The adaptor presents a tang (6) proper to the spindle, using a conical socket (52) with retaining bars (7) to locate the holder, and using a mortice (55) to house onto the drive tenon (4a) of the tool tang. The case is screwed onto the adaptor to secure the assembly, its partial un-screwing permitting the demounting of the holder. The bars may stand proud of the internal wall of the adaptor and may engage axial grooves (23) in the external wall of the holder, the case using fingers (32) cantilevering radially in from its base for locking. A sprung ball catch (8,9) may hold the case in the demount position.
|
