The appts. controls the limits of raising or return of a cutting blade (33) held in a cutting head, or other type of blade carrier (5), in a cutting machine (1). Position data are introduced into a memory (99) by a switch (21) operated during the lowering of the cutter (33) onto the work piece (W), as well as during the raising of the blade carrier. The position of the blade carrier (5) is detected (61) by a transducer and the position compared (101) against the memorised limit (99). If the end of travel has been reached a control signal is emitted to stop further motion. A feeder device (53) is placed so as to prevent the entry of data to the position memory when the blade is in contact with the workpiece. The cutter is raised and lowered by a controlled hydraulic actuator (41). The arrangement is partic. intended for a horizontal bandsaw. |
