PURPOSE:To prevent invasion of particles into the sliding part by providing a stepped part extending to the combustion chamber side at the upper part of a cylinder liner, and a high-pressure gaseous flow is injected toward a combustion chamber from a gap between a piston top land and a cylinder liner in a compression stroke. CONSTITUTION:A liner stepped part 4 is formed so that it extends to the side of a combustion chamber at the upper part of a cylinder liner 1, on one hand, while a piston top land 6 formed into a smaller diameter in accordance with the liner stepped part 4, is provided. In the compression stroke, the piston 2 is inserted into the liner stepped part 4 from the instant immediately before the piston 2 reaches the upper dead center, so that a compression chambe 7 and a gap 8 are formed between both the piston and the liner stepped part, whereby a high-pressure gas flow is injected within the combustion chamber 3 through the compression chamber 7 and gap 8, to prevent the invasion of hard particles into the sliding part and the abnormal abrasion thereof. |
