Back-up electrical power supply

A back-up electrical power supply module (34) provides a back-up supply for a plug-in volatile electrical device such as a memory module (32). The memory module (32) has dual in-line pins (38) which engage socket openings (40) of a standard dual-in-line circuit board connector (30). The back-up supply module (34) is mounted on top of the memory module and has dual-in-line pins (36) which contact corresponding ones of the pins (38) of the memory module (32) and corresponding socket openings (40). In this way the back-up supply module and the memory module can be unplugged as a unit and when unplugged, the back-up supply will maintain the contents of the volatile memory module intact.
