<p>The closure is intended for fitting a sealing cap (4) over the the top of a bottle (1). It comprises a piece of foil (4) of elastomeric characteristics, e.g. polyurethane, or the like. The foil is tensioned and pulled down over the bottle top and then released, when the peripheral area of the foil contracts to form a constriction (5) below an annular collar (3) etc. around the bottle neck. Excess foil material at the periphery may be cut-off, e.g. using a hot wire which at the same time welds the constriction to the bottle neck.</p> |
