<p>The valve body (1) is fitted to the vessel (9) with a nut (12) and washer (11). The valve core (7) is screwed into the body and houses the main valve (13). A pressure relief valve is housed in the valve body and consists of a piston (3) with an 'O' ring (2) sealing on a seat (10). The piston is housed in a cylinder (5) screwed into the valve body (1). When overpressurisation occurs inside the vessel, the relief valve piston (3) is lifted off its seat (10) and allows air to pass through an orifice (1d) into an escape hole (1e) and a slot (1f) to atmosphere. The pressure setting of the relief valve is adjustable by tightening or slackening the cylinder (5) on the compression spring (4).</p> |
