During the embossing of prefabricated panels of fibrous, vegetable material, in order to achieve so precise a positioning in the press of each panel being embossed that the embossing pattern indeed occurs in the intended place on the panel, there are first and second carriers 35, 43, arranged to feed the panel 1 into a stationary loading stand 19 for abutment against first and second stop elements 33, 83, which define a first predetermined and precisely oriented position for the panel. Furthermore, gripping elements 73 supported on a carriage 21 can drive to the loading stand 19 and are arranged to grip the panel 1 in said position and to insert the panel 1 with unaltered orientation into the press 3 in a predetermined second position. There are retaining elements 89 arranged to take over the holding of the panel 1 from the gripping elements 73, so that they loosen their grip on the panel 1 and return while the retaining elements 89 hold the panel fast with unaltered orientation in the second position. The retaining elements 89 also hold the panel 1 fast during the closing and opening of the press 3, which is advisedly a multilevel press. <IMAGE> |
