PURPOSE:To obtain a picture signal corresponding to a read region easily, by generating a boundary signal, which indicates the boundary of the region where picture information should be read in an original, by a solid image sensor in a reader. CONSTITUTION:Positions of boundary signal generating materials 7 and 8 are adjusted and moved, and the start part and the end part of a read region in original 0 are set by materials 7 and 8. In the manual subscanning reader main body side, signal generator 5 is provided which generates a boundary signal by the reflection light from the boundary signal generation face of the read region prescribing material. Since the light quantity incident to photodetector 5b of generator 5 is different in the reflection light from materials 7 and 8 with that of from original 0, the boundary signal indicating the boundary of the read region is transmitted from generator 5 if the reader is moved from the start part side to the end part side on the read region prescribing material. |
