The solenoid valve serves to control a pneumatic or hydraulic medium, e.g. for the pilot control of directional control valves. It has a magnet coil and an operating element which is actuated by the magnet coil and controls the through passage of a pressure seat. So that the valve can also be actuated manually if necessary, the pressure seat is rotatably arranged about an axis running transversely to the direction of movement of the operating element and is provided with a radially projecting control edge which acts on the operating element upon rotation of the pressure seat and lifts the operating element from the pressure seat so that the valve is opened.
