Glass fibre optic copier exposure system - has fibre parallel to exposure platen and deflection mirror input and output onto drum

A glass fibre optic is used to project the image from the strip scanned original to the sensitised drum in a photocopier. A strip lamp (8) and elliptical reflector (9) are used to focus a strip light onto part (14) of the moving original. The reflected beam is reflected into the glass fibre optic section (1) by a first mirror (4) so that the beam axis (2) is parallel to the original. The beam comes out of the fibre optic and is reflected onto the semiconductor drum surface (6) by a second mirror (5). The fibre optic beam transfer arrangement enables the drum to be closely located with the exposure platen (3) and the size of the copier reduced.
