Induction welding of rings onto valves for IC engines - via automatic machine using jigs to assemble valve and ring, and to rotate valve during welding

Machine includes a horizontal jig (6) into which a ring (33) rolls via gravity via a shute (5). A valve (34) slides down a second chute (4) so its shank enters ring (33). The valve is next overturned so it rests via its head on a cup (21) fitted on the piston rod of a vertical pneumatic cylinder (PC). The valve and ring are raised by the PC so the valve shank is clamped in, and rotating by, a chuck, while the valve head and ring (33) are in an inductor providing heat for welding. Water is then fed through a ring nozzle to quench the weld; and a reciprocating chute is used to remove the valve (34), which now has a ring (33) welded on its working surface. The cycle is then repeated for the next valve and ring. A heat resisting alloy ring (33) is welded onto the valve.
