Self braking furniture castor - has vertical displacement of axle controlled by sprung sleeve

The hollow axle (25) of the castor is fitted over a fixed axle (22) of the assembly and with a locating sleeve (30) of the assembly to serve as a bearing. A cut-out on the top edge of the locating sleeve is fitted with a spring clip (35) to provide the vertical displacement of the castor for the braking control. The brake and mounting provide a compact assembly with no other fittings required. The spring clip is shaped to grip the sides of the cut-out and with a central section to press down onto the sleeve.
