Compounds of the formula <IMAGE> (I) +TR <IMAGE> wherein R1, R2 and R3 denote hydrogen, chlorine or methyl, R4 denotes C1-C4-alkyl which is optionally substituted by phenyl, hydroxyl or C1-C4-alkoxy and X(-) denotes a colorless anion. A process for their preparation and processes for brightening polyacrylonitrile and wool using compounds of the formula (I).
