In protective jackets, overtrousers and coveralls for motor-cycling wear having a slide-fastener closure, the fastener runs diagonally across the garment, from the throat or the shoulder region (for jackets and coveralls) down the thigh on the opposite side of the body. In trousers, the fastener runs down from mid-waist across the top of the thigh, avoiding the genital region. Alternatively, the fastener may be vertical, but is offset from the centreline of the body, or it may run diagonally with changing slope, giving a zig-zag seam. The construction prevents the collection of rainwater along the fastener chain, where it can be driven inside the garment by the wind pressure and reduces the risk of injury by friction between chain and body in accidents, partic. in the vulnerable crotch region.
|
