The spade has a blade with an elongated triangular shape, extending downwards to a point (3). Its top (1) is extended outwards each side, providing a support (4) for the foot when inserting the tool into the ground. A tang (5) is also provided, for use with a suitable handle (6). The blade is open at its centre, leaving two narrow outer strips (2) terminating at the point. This blade is also curved in its plane, to provide a scooping action when inserted into the ground.
