PURPOSE:To perform a high accurate and automatic buffing finish for a workpiece by a method wherein a buff is confronted to the workpiece at an optional angle and the buff is oscillated in a direction substantially parallel with a rotating side surface of the buff, in a buffing head to be employed as a power unit etc. for a transfer machine. CONSTITUTION:A rotary table 4 is stopped at a predetermined still point and a guide table 19 is attached at a desired angle to a flange 18 of a sleeve 16 through a fixing mechanism 20 in accordance with a finishing size of each of workpieces 5 on the table 4. Then, both of a horizontal moving mechanism 15 and a vertical moving mechanism 17 are driven to perform a positioning operation of a buff 22 for its horizontal and vertical positions, and at the same time a buff moving mechanism 23 is operated to adjust a positioning of the radial direction of the buff 22. At the same time, both of a speed and a rotating direction of the buff 22 in each of buff heads 1 are set in an operation panel 51 in accordance with a desired range of finishing accuracy ranging from a rough grinding to a mirror surface finishing at each of finishing stations. Thereby the workpiece 5 is worked by a predetermined operation on the basis of one step feeding of the table 4. |
