Rotary type axial piston pump - has non-return valve in each cylinder discharge to improve volumetric efficiency

<p>The pump has a rotating cylinder drum which contains axial cylnders. Each cylinder contains a piston which is made to reciprocate by a swashplate or cam ring. Liquid is admitted to and released from the cylinders by ports in a valve plate which is stationary in the casing. The face of the drum is pressed against the valve plate. The end plate of the cylinder drum contains a spring loaded non return valve on the outlet of each cylinder. This reduces pressure fluctuations as the liquid is forced into the ports of the valve plate and limits the maximum pressure developed.</p>
