Vacuum gripping device for lifting of cans or the like, packed tightly upright in a cardboard tray with folded edges, wherein the gripping device is constructed from a plate with upward angled edge portions, containing channels with suction holes for connection to a vacuum line, to the bottom side of which plate is secured a soft elastic intermediate layer with a flat underside in absence of vacuum, wherein the top side of the intermediate layer tightly adjoins the underside of the plate and furthermore the intermediate layer contains cavities for air transport and to its underside is secured a layer of harder elastic material with openings turned toward said cavities, which layer lies tightly against the lifted item when the vacuum is turned on for the gripping device, while at the same time the outer cans are acted upon by a torsional force, which acts on their bottoms and separates them from the inner situated cans and presses the outer ones against the folded edges of the bottom of the tray for the tray which remains in place during the lifting at and around the cans in question. <IMAGE> |
