An exchangeable outer jacket is concentric to a flame pipe to conduct process gas into the space between them during convective cooling of the flame pipe wall. There is an intake for the process gas near the outlet of the flame pipe, an annular chamber providing even distribution of the gas. An annular chamber at the front of the flame pipe redirects the gas into an extension of the annular chamber to cool the outside of an inlet cone, an inlet slot allowing film cooling of the inside of the inlet cone. The latter has outlet cones at the rear for mixing into the flame, a temp. sensor at the outlet of the flame pipe controlling the amount of supplementary fuel and process gas to the burner.
