[Also in Division E1] Concrete is cast in a bag-like mould compartmented by connections 5<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 8) between its opposed walls, and provided with spacers 9 which limit the extent to which the walls can bulge. In consequence the concrete forms several areas joined by portions which break if there is subsidence of the supporting ground. Dove-tail formations as shown, or formations of other shapes (e.g. Figs. 9 and 10, not shown) may hold the portions of concrete together. Dove-tails on the periphery of the mould may provide connections with similarly formed walls on an adjacent mould, or adjacent moulds may be joined by hooks and eyes. The mould may be filled through apertures 19, 20, 21 or through non-return flaps. Suspension wires may extend inside the hole and may be secured to some of the spacers 9 or prevented by nuts from pulling out. Portions of wire mesh within some of the compartments may engage spikes driven through the mould to hold it in position. The mould may be formed by fabric walls joined by cross-weaving and with cross-weaves forming the spacers 9. Alternatively, the opposite walls may be sealed, sewn or welded together. |
