<p>The raw material is in bulk or granular form, and is roasted, sintered, and cooled, in a plant consisting of a shaft feeding the raw material downwards into a combustion chamber contg. an inclined grate, from which the sintered material falls via gravity into a cooler. Between the cooler and the combustion chamber is a dividing wall forming a collecting chamber for air which has been heated by passing up the cooler through the sintered material. At the top of the air collection chamber is >=1 fuel burner directing jets of fuel into the combustion chamber and using the hot air for combustion of the fuel. A fan is pref. used to control the flow of hot air reaching the air collection chamber from the cooler. Optimum thermal efficiency is obtd.</p> |
