<p>In the rig the sail is secured to a floating strut (2) linked to the mast (4) on a pivot (3) some way up the mast, and at the level of the boom supporting the sail. The ends of the strut are linked to the mast by adjustable sheets. The whole sail can be angled w.r.t. the wind and the boat so that the boat maintains an upright position for maximum stability and efficiency. The end of the boom is controlled by a separate sheet (16). The sail is set so that the centre of thrust is below the pivot point to prevent the craft from capsizing.</p> |
