<p>The pneumatic control valve for the train brakes has a flexible membrane which is secured by clamping it between two halves of the valve housing. The centre of the membrane is secured on the operating piston of the valve. In order to reduce membrane wear through rubbing on the light alloy metal of the valve housing, the vented side of the membrane has a shoulder (15) in the side of the housing and a special gasket ring (16) is fitted over this shoulder. The ring is either steel or metal coated plastic and provides a low friction surface for the rubber of the membrane.</p> |
