The step-and-repeat camera incorporates a pair of stepping motors, one for discretely advancing the film and the other for moving the exposure carriage in a direction transverse to the film advance. Electrical equipment is provided to preset and to selectively vary the spacing between the tops of the exposed frames in a single column as well as an edge beginning of adjacent columns. A registered copy-board is included on the table of the camera such that it can be reoriented for legal or standard paper sizes, for example. The surrounding surface of the table is pref. a dark colour such as a dull black, whereas the copyboard itself is pref. white. There may be disposed on the table proximate the copyboard a luminous indicator which will step automatically a given number of digits such that the exposures will carry desired numeral or other identification.
