PURPOSE:A highly selective oxidation catalyst for carboxylate ester production having good production rate per Pd unit weight is provided by incorporating Pd metal, V metal or V compounds, and I single body or I compounds into carrier bodies. CONSTITUTION:The above catalyst consists of carrier such as active carbon, silica gel, alumina gel, etc. which contains V metal or V compounds in 0.01 to 5, preferably 0.1 to 2 gram atoms as metal, and I single body or I compounds in 0.1 to 5, preferably 0.5 to 2 gram atoms as I atom per one atom of Pd metal. The Pd metal content in the carrier is not restricted, but 0.5 to 10 wt% of Pd metal per 100 wt% of the carrier is preferable. This catalyst is suited to oxidize conjugated dienes, olefins, aromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of carboxylic acid and molecular oxygen to produce ester carboxylate. |
