Granulating glass mixes contg. toxic dusts - by addn. of materials requiring water of crystallisation

Method of preparing raw materials for the glass industry in which toxic dusts can be added to glass units, and/or glass melt aggregates by binder addition and granulation comprises mixing the toxic materials with materials requiring water of crystallisation. The mixt. is then mixed opt. with addition of the main portion SiO2, and other usual glass raw materials, together with sufficient water for granulation. Specifically practically all the added water is added as water of crystallisation leaving a moisture content in the prepared granulate of 1-4 (2-3) wt%. The toxic materials can be introduced into the granulate form without the need for drying the product since the water is taken up by the materials requiring water of crystallisation.
